Musical Director

Helen Brind attended the Royal College of Music (Junior Department) before studying music at Southampton University.  For several years she taught tuned percussion and brass for a youth band in Blandford and in 1993 became the conductor of a ladies’ choir in Broadstone, Dorset.

 Helen was appointed Musical Director of Weymouth Choral Society in October 2000 and since then has presented three or four concerts a year with the Society.  She also directs the Dorset Singers, an 'a cappella' choir that meets and rehearses in the spring term specifically to take part in the Stourhead ‘Festival of the Voice’.  Helen holds regular workshops for ladies’ voices in Dorset and is a tutor for Wiltshire County Council Adult Education Service.

 Working as a teacher of singing both privately and in schools in the Dorset area, Helen holds a Performer’s Diploma and the Certificate of Teaching from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music.  She also holds a PGCE in Post Compulsory Education.
